At the bottom of the fifth inning in Baltimore, Royals’ pitcher Yordano Ventura threw a 99 mph fastball that landed squarely at the bottom of Orioles’ Manny Machado’s back.
Machado’s response to the throw was to rush the mound and land a pretty clean right hook before taking Ventura to the ground. Both clubs’ benches were soon cleared as players from both teams rushed the field.
Give me a right hook instead of a 99 mph any day. Listen to that sound the ball makes when it hits Machado’s flesh!
Both Machado and Ventura were thrown out of the game and the Orioles went on to win 9-1.
