For some reason the Japanese culture is resistant to the idea or organ donation for children in need. As a result, only 300 out of the 14,000 children get the organs they need each year. Second Life Toys allows children to send in their old or worn stuffed animals to receive transplants and then sends the toy back with a note from the donor’s human. By doing so, they are hoping to start a dialogue that eventually makes organ donation less of a taboo subject in their country.
