The Adventures of Floyd Mayweather and His Expensive Automobiles recently took a new turn as the man named Forbes’ highest paid athlete of 2015 took to Instagram to stunt with his new ride.
Called the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, the Swedish car apparently cost Mayweather $4.8 million. Appropriately, there are only two Trevitas in the world (because we’re guessing that the market for a nearly $5 million car is small).
According to Mayweather, the car is “beyond a Super Car, and is classified as a “Hyper Car” which makes it certainly sound much cooler than the average car (Of course, the distinction between a “super car” and a “hyper car” is made all the more confusing by the fact that Floyd also calls the Trevita a “supercar” in his caption).
According to Koenigsegg, the Trevita can accelerate to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and can reach max speeds of 254 mph.
While $4.8 million seems like an obscene amount of money for a car, the folks over at Koenigsegg sure seemed to think that the price was reasonable when they wrote up a post on the subject last month.
Reports say that Mayweather is about to add a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita to his considerable collection of supercars and that he’s paying as much as $4.8 million for the privilege.
Are the reports true? We have no idea. That’s a matter for Floyd, his buyer and the reporters chasing his every move. We can say, however, that $4.8m would be a welcome price for anyone who currently owns one of our cars.
