John Scott has a history of dirty plays in the NHL but – to the enforcer’s credit – his time in San Jose this season has been virtually harmless…until now.
During last night’s game in Anaheim, Scott delivered a cheap shot to Anaheim’s Tim Jackman at the conclusion of a play in the Ducks’ defensive zone. As the two players came to a stop at the far side of the net, Scott swung his right arm around and nailed Jackman in the the face with the butt-end of his stick. Jackman appeared to take the blow right on the jaw and immediately went down to the ice, where he laid for a few minutes before being helped off the ice. He didn’t return to the game.
Scott managed to escape the incident without being penalized by the officials, but he’ll likely be receiving a suspension from the league as a result of his actions. Interestingly enough, Scott was suspended for two games earlier this season after leaving the bench to drop the gloves with Jackman.
Maybe he should just sit out the Sharks next game against Anaheim…
