Yesterday, Nike unveiled the Kyrie 1, which will be Kyrie Irving’s very first signature shoe.
Nike’s decision to spotlight Irving as a signature athlete should not be taken lightly. After all, Irving is only the fourth current pro basketball athlete to have his own shoe under Nike. The others are guys you may have heard of: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.
He’s joining a lineage of players that includes Penny Hardaway, Charles Barkley and, of course, Michael Jordan.

And while Irving has a long way to go in terms of matching those guys’ accomplishments on the court, he also has a fair ways to go in terms of matching their imprint on the sneaker game as well.
How does the Kyrie 1 stack up against other Nike basketball athlete’s first signature shoes? Flip on through the slideshow to find out.
