During the fourth quarter of the Washington Wizards’ 98-83 thrashing of the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, shooting guard J.R. Smith took the task of ball handling duties a little too far, swiping at Glen Rice Jr.’s man zone in an attempt to get around him. Smith’s tactic worked to some degree, as Rice was — inexplicably — called for a personal foul (shocker: it was Bennett Salvatore on the call). Ultimately, it didn’t matter, as the Wizards won the game easily. And the joke is on J.R., as the league has slapped him with a one-game suspension:
Knicks J.R. Smith has been suspended 1 game without pay for striking Washington Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. in the groin in Tuesday’s game.

Look on the bright side, J.R., that’s one less game you have to run the triangle offense.
