As we’ve seen plenty of times in the past, the difficulty of Augusta National can cause some wild shots out on the course. Adam Scott nearly fell victim to one of those wild shots, taken by Rory McIlroy, as he was going through his pre-shot warmups on the fifth tee box.
McIlroy, teeing up on the par-4 fourth, overshot the green and sent the ball whizzing through the next hole’s tee area and behind the back of Scott. As you can imagine, Scott was quite surprised as the ball narrowly missed him.
As for Rory, his ball wound up settling in an unplayable lie near a fence on the property and he had to head back to the tee box for another try.
