The concerns about Tiger Woods’ health heading into the Masters this year have been well documented. But through 36 holes, he has largely played solid and battled through what have been some extremely difficult conditions at the event.
On both Thursday and Friday, the wind at Augusta National has led to many players having some extremely difficult rounds with some big scores.
Of the 89 golfers in the field, 12 players currently have scores that are double-digits over par, and that number will likely only grow as play continues on Friday, which speaks to just how tough conditions have been.
Woods hasn’t been near the top of the leaderboard in these harsh conditions, but he has battled to stay in the mix for the much easier conditions that are coming on the weekend.
Woods was one of the many golfers unable to finish his opening round of the tournament on Thursday due to a delayed start, playing the opening 13 holes at one under par before play was suspended. This meant he needed to finish out the final five holes of his opening round and play 18 more holes in Round Two on Friday.
Despite all of the tough conditions on the course and the added play that could have negative effects on his body, Woods played some extremely steady golf throughout his 23 holes of golf on Friday.
He finished his opening round at one-over-par and continued the steady play into his second round. Woods then played his second round at even-par to finish at a total of +1 through 36 holes.
His +1 score through 36 holes is well above the current projected cutline at +4, meaning that he will indeed be playing on the weekend. It also means that Woods now holds the record for the most consecutive made cuts at Augusta National, marking his 24th straight at the event, breaking the tie he held with Fred Couples and Gary Player at 23 made cuts.
Naturally, fans took to social media to credit Woods for this jaw-dropping accomplishment.

This record speaks to the absurdly high level of consistency that Woods has had over the years. Even through all the personal injury struggles he has had, he has been able to prevail when it came to playing at the Masters.
Will Woods actually contend through the weekend? That may be a stretch, he currently sits in a tie for 25th place, well behind the leaders on the course. However, if anyone is going to make a run to the top of the leaderboard this weekend, it may just be Tiger Woods considering his excellence at this course over the years.
