The rivalry between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears is one of the most storied in the NFL.
But in recent years, it has also been one of the most lopsided, with Green Bay having won each of its past 10 games against Chicago.
But with the Bears having made a number of impressive roster acquisitions and expected to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, a new era is coming in Chicago. And according to one of the franchise’s new cornerstones, that will include a shift in the team’s NFC North rivalry against the Packers.
“I’m telling you right now, I’m not losing to Green Bay this year,” Sweat told Chris Long on the Green Light podcast, via NBCSportsChicago.com. “I can’t do it. I can’t do it, man. I’m not losing to Green Bay this year.”
Turning the tide against the Packers will, of course, be easier said than done with the Packers laying claim to one of the most impressive young rosters in the NFL. After going from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay appears to have yet another star quarterback on its hands in Jordan Love.
Meanwhile, Chicago has been building an impressive roster of its own, including last season’s acquisition of Sweat from the Washington Commanders at the trade deadline. In nine games with the Bears, the Mississippi State product recorded six sacks — a production level that will need to continue if Chicago is finally going to get the better of the Packers this season.
