Last month, New York Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was listed as a possible running mate by independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. which would have presumably put his NFL career at risk. But it doesn’t sound like the team ever actually expected that to happen.

During a recent interview with Fox News, New York Jets team owner Woody Johnson revealed that Aaron Rodgers “never left football” and that the political stuff was just a “momentary distraction” before he completely returned to action.

“He is getting back to football 100 percent,” Johnson said according to the New York Post. “He never left football. That was a momentary distraction — maybe like going in the dark room or whatever. But he’s back 100 percent. Great leader. I tell the receivers: ‘You count to 10, hold your hands up and look around, the ball will be there.’”

Obviously, these comments from Johnson led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Momentary distraction or not, the Jets will undoubtedly be happy to have Rodgers back this season after he missed nearly the entire 2023 NFL season after suffering an Achilles injury during his first drive with the team.

We’ll have to see how Rodgers bounces back this year.
