Last season did not go the way future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers hoped or expected after signing with the New York Jets as he suffered an Achilles injury during the first drive of his first game with the team. The injury ultimately ended his season, but it sounds like he was initially worried it would end his entire career.

During an appearance on the I Can Fly podcast, Aaron Rodgers opened up about that game against the Buffalo Bills, saying that he felt the “highest of highs” running out onto the field before the “heartbreaking” injury on just his first series with the team. And after the injury, Rodgers claims that he even thought his career was over.

“I was really thinking, ‘This is it. You don’t come back from this injury,’” Rodgers said on the podcast according to Pro Football Talk.

Obviously, the injury did not end Rodgers’ storied career. In fact, he even tried to return to the field just a few months later and refused to even rule himself out late in the season. But it’s understandable that he felt that fear.

Rodgers is now set to return to the Jets this season as he bounces back from his injury.
