The unrelenting Summer of Gronk will make a detour at the Chicagoland Speedway on June 20th for the NASCAR XFINITY Series race.
And Rob Gronkowski will get to drive a NASCAR vehicle.
To celebrate Father’s Day, Gronk and his brothers will serve as co-Grand Marshalls for the race while Papa Gronk will fill the role of the race’s Honorary Starter.
However, Gronk won’t just be enjoying the race as a spectator. The Patriots tight end will also get to “lead the field of drivers onto the track as the official pace car driver prior to kick-off the NASCAR XFINITY Series race under the lights.”
The affair won’t be a total bro-fest. Gronk will also meet families from the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation as a part of his work for the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation.
As for the Gronk himself, the man seems to be very, very stoked about getting the opportunity to drive a NASCAR car as a part of Father’s Day.
“I’m stoked to spend Father’s Day weekend with my family at Chicagoland Speedway. Not only are we coming from all over the country to celebrate the best dad in the world, but I get the ultimate adrenaline rush of getting behind the wheel and driving the pace car to kick-off the NASCAR race,” said Rob Gronkowski. “My brothers and I get to say the most famous words in racing, ‘Drivers Start Your Engines,” and my dad gets to wave the green flag to start the race. It’s going to be an awesome weekend.”
There is little doubt that these guys know how to have an awesome weekend.
