Zach Johnson started the fifth day of the British Open day three strokes behind leaders Louis Oosthuizen, Jason Day, and Paul Dunne. By the end of the tournament, the man who says he’s just an ordinary guy from Cedar Rapids, Iowa would join Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Sam Snead, Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo as the only players to win the British Open and Masters on the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Johnson had this to say after beating Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman in a four-hole playoff to claim the Claret Jug.
I would be crying too if I had just etched my name into golf history and won a $1.8 million purse. Cry your heart out Zach.
