A young kid got the opportunity to join the OHL’s Oshawa Generals for their pregame skate prior to a recent game, which I’m sure was a dream come true for the youngster. Unfortunately, it didn’t go all that smoothly for him.
After taking a few confident laps around the Generals’ zone, the kid accidentally wandered into the path of Hunter Smith, a Generals forward and Calgary Flames prospect who – at 6’6, 210 lbs – is nicknamed ‘Big Rig.’ As you can imagine, a small child stepping in front of a grown man named Big Rig isn’t usually going to produce fantastic results for the kid.
Fortunately, the boy was able to survive the clothesline and appeared to be fine, which is awesome because skating with an OHL team is cool, but shaking off a big-time hit from an NHL prospect is way cooler.
