Managers are suppose to be the reasonable ones preventing their players from fighting, but instead were the instigators of a benches-clearing brawl in the Alaska Baseball League on Wednesday night. During the 14th inning of a game between the Peninsula Oilers and Anchorage Bucs, Bucs manager Mike Grahovac was tossed for arguing balls and strikes. As he wandered off the field, he and Oilers manager Kevin Griffin began jawing at each other.
It quickly escalated as both managers began throwing punches, which led to an intense benches-clearing brawl. According to KTUU 2 News, fights are extremely rare in the Alaska League and they almost never see anything beyond minor altercations. Peninsula scored six runs in the top of the 14th immediately following the incident, giving them a 9-3 victory.
