It seems the curse of Sam Bowie has struck again in Portland. Portland Trail Blazers general manager Rich Cho has confirmed that All-Star guard Brandon Roy will be getting a significant break from playing hopes of healing his ailing knees:
I can tell you it will most likely be for an extended period. We’ve talked about (ending his season) and it’s a possibility, but we want to explore a couple of other things first.
Roy has already missed nine-games this season. While Roy isn’t officially done for the year the issue is that he has no meniscus in either knee which is a chronic condition so it’s unlikely to resolve soon, or possible ever. After Roy signed a max contract after last season this is a huge blow to the Blazers.
