Lake County’s Derrick Swift nailed a 75-foot shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime in the BlueCross Boys Basketball Championships TSSAA Division 1 Class 1A Quarterfinals. The Lake County Falcons carried that momentum into overtime and went on to beat the Booker T. Washington Warriors in OT, 79-77, inside the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.
“Thought I missed it to be honest,” Swift said. “Then I look up and everyone is coming at me, and I am at the bottom of the pile.”
“I knew we had time for two dribbles,” Lake County coach Dawn Barger said. “We practice this all the time with timed three-quarter or full-court shots.
“We probably went 0-for-500 in practice this season, but I am glad it happened here and not in practice.”
