Walgreen Co. has VERY quietly rolled out a private label brew which they are going to sell shortly. Big Flats 1901 is the chosen name and it will be selling for a suggested retail price of $2.99 for a six-pack of cans and $11.49 for a 24-pack, the company said.
The chain began selling the beer in mid-December and it’s now available in more than 4,000 locations, a company spokesman said.
“In just the first few weeks of sales consumer feedback has been very positive, as beer drinkers across the U.S. are thrilled to have such a quality brew at a value price,” Kathleen Burns, senior marketing manager at Novato, Calif.-based Winery Exchange said in a statement.
Winery Exchange is a private-label alcohol company with a clients including Costco, Cost Plus World Market and Trader Joe’s. The company developed and owns Big Flats. According to a press release, the beer’s name is meant to evoke flat boats that delivered goods to settlers in upstate New York.
