If we had to rank the active NBA coaches in the order of “guys we’d love to have as our team’s head coach”, we’d be hard-pressed to put anyone other than Rick Carlisle in second place behind Gregg Popovich (Doc and Coach Spo lovers, to the left, please). And — as if we needed anymore convincing — our adoration for the Dallas Mavericks’ head coach grew exponentially Wednesday night, when a very self-aware Carlisle proved himself to be more than just a great X’s and O’s guy, responding to ESPN’s sideline reporter Chris Broussard in a very Coach Pop-esque manner.
Note to NBA sideline reporters: stop asking “Yes or No” questions if Pop or Carlisle are involved. It won’t end well.
