Andy George, the man behind the YouTube account How to Make Everything decided to try and make the best sandwich he could in six months from scratch. In the end, including materials and labor costs, the sandwich came out to costing $1,500.
Most of the time went into actually growing and pickling the vegetables, and making his own cheese, salt, bread, honey and every conceivable element that goes into a sandwich. Most of the sandwich’s cost came from George’s labor.
While the sheer size and scope of the project is impressive (the dude even slaughters the chicken that is used in his four-figure sandwich), it seems that the resulting product was slightly underwhelming:
“It’s not bad.”
His reaction after that says it all.
One has to admire the hustle though. George detailed his sandwich adventure in a different video. In it, he estimates that he spent about $500 on raw materials and about $1,000 in labor (paying himself the minimum wage) to make his “not bad” sammy.
