Apple’s icon for its forthcoming iCloud service uses the Golden Ratio, an irrational mathematical constant, to create a design of harmonious proportions. The presence of the Golden Ratio is said to create a feeling of harmony and balance. The first written definition of the Golden Ratio was by Euclid in the 3rd century BC.
