After David Beckham was (arguably) upstaged by Wayne Rooney over the weekend, his new club’s news took stage on Monday. The Miami MLS expansion team (aka Miami Beckham United LLC) unveiled a few sketches of the proposed stadium on the waterfront of Dodge Island in Miami. Audacious and futuristic, this is however just a proposed stadium. The team is still negotiating a location, which appears to have little traction with the city itself. Given the city’s track record with professional sport attendance and the past failed attempts to bring the MLS to Miami, take these images with an Anthony Montana mound of salt. However, this site would be a great boon to American soccer.
