New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t exactly know what a “Swiftie” is, but based on his recent comments about Taylor Swift, it sounds like he might be one of them.

During an interview with WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show Monday morning, Bill Belichick was asked if he saw Taylor Swift perform when she brought her Eras Tour to Gillette Stadium. And not only did the six-time Super Bowl champion coach see her perform, he made it very clear that he was impressed by her toughness after she performed for over three hours in the pouring rain.

“I saw a little bit of Taylor,” Belichick told Greg Hill. “That was pretty impressive. She’s tough, man. She just stood out there and played right through it.”

If that response didn’t cement Belichick as a certified Swiftie (even though he made it clear he doesn’t know what that term means), he did later in the interview when he even acknowledged a favorite song from the pop superstar.

“Well look, I’m definitely on the ‘you gotta calm down,” Belichick said, referencing Swift’s hit You Need to Calm Down. “That’s pretty good. You gotta calm down. There’s a lot of times when that’s very appropriate. Just gotta calm down.”

We wanted Belichick’s honest opinion about Swift, and we sure got it. And maybe it wasn’t exactly what everyone expected.
