Back in 2022, former Georgia Bulldogs running back Herschel Walker ran for Senate in Georgia as he challenged Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock. Walker was ultimately defeated in the election after a number of scandals and embarrassing moments, but now he’s causing even more problems for Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
As Politico reports, Herschel Walker still has over $4 million in leftover campaign money and he is seemingly refusing to use that money to support the GOP or Donald Trump in his upcoming presidential election even though the GOP could very much use it as a resource. And as a Georgia GOP strategist explains, this is a major problem for the Georgia GOP as they are already short of money and that significant sum could go a long way.
“Republicans are being outspent everywhere up and down the ballot and there’s a significant sum of resources just sitting there,” said the strategist, who was granted anonymity to discuss the issue. “It could be supporting Trump, who did a ton for Herschel’s campaign.”
According to the latest financial disclosures filed to the Federal Election Commission obtained by Politico, Walker still had $4.3 million in his account as of the end of March, though he told the outlet that there “wasn’t money left in my account.”
