Last month, transgender golfer Haily Davidson won the championship at the NXXT Women’s Classic in Florida, taking a major step toward potentially becoming the first transgender woman to ever qualify for the LPGA Tour. But one of the most famous transgender people on the planet has a major problem with her.
In a lengthy opinion article for The Daily Mail this week, Caitlyn Jenner expressed her outrage, calling out Hailey Davidson and demanding that she withdraw from competing against women.
“Transgender athlete Hailey Davidson must recognize that golf is a game of integrity and withdraw from female competition,” Jenner wrote for The Daily Mail. “Then the Ladies Professional Golf Association should follow suit, seize this chance to reverse their grave mistake – and restore the spirit of one of the longest-running women’s professional sports associations in the world.”
As a transgender woman herself, Jenner thinks that she is uniquely qualified to offer opinions on the matter.
“I am a transgender person who picked up the game of golf in my 50s, playing as an amateur, non-competitively, alongside men and women of all ages. I know for certain that there are physical differences between men and women that cannot be erased by modern medicine – especially after individuals go through male puberty,” Jenner said.
We’ll have to see how Davidson responds to this Jenner.
