It has been 35 years since Jim Craig and the 1980 United States Olympic Hockey team shocked the world in defeating the supposedly unbeatable USSR but it remains a moment that will never be forgotten or lose its luster.
Craig, the goalie and one of the most well-known players from that Gold Medal-winning team, stopped 36 of 39 shots against the Soviet team in the game dubbed “Miracle on Ice” before allowing two goals against Finland two days later. Still a household name three-plus decades after his performance captured the heart of Americans, Craig decided to celebrate Throwback Thursday with this beauty:
