When you’re the coach of a youth hockey team, it’s probably best to lead by example. In the case of a Littleton Youth Hockey assistant coach, he didn’t, and his filthy mouth unsurprisingly got him fired.
The assistant coach unleashed an absurd rant, where he tried to pump up youth players by shouting as many expletives as humanly possible. I’m not joking, he told them “Fuck the coaches. Fuck their wives. Fuck their friends.”
In a message acquired by Deadspin, the Littleton Youth Hockey Association announced they canned the coach.
“I was made aware of this situation in October through an email with what others believed was said from outside the locker room. Upon review, I immediately suspended the assistant coach. He was very embarrassed and issued a letter of apology to the opposing team and apologized to his team. It was not until I witnessed the video did the severity of the situation become apparent. The coach has been removed from the staff and will not be returning to LHA this season, nor in the future. Littleton Hockey does not condone this type of behavior.”
I mean, what did he expect? While trying to fire up your team is nothing new, swearing (this much) to a youth team is insane. As soon as the video was filmed, this guy was done as a coach.
Let’s hope that if this dude ever coaches again, he tones down his language.
