Sunday afternoon’s Capitals-Panthers game gave us one of the best “LOLCAPS” moments in recent memory.
Towards the beginning of the second period, the Caps had possession in the offensive zone when a whiffed slapshot led to both Washington defensemen colliding while trying to collect the loose puck at the blue line. The two Caps d-men also managed to claim a third Washington skater in the wreckage of their collision, which allowed the Panthers to easily gather the puck for a two-on-nothing rush.
Despite a pretty terrible effort leading to a Braden Holtby save at the other end of the ice, the Panthers managed to tie the game when a centering pass by a Florida forward banked off the skate of a Capitals player and into the back of the net.
Like I said, LOLCAPS.
