On Monday, the Russian Hockey Federation unveiled the new jerseys that will be worn by both the men’s and women’s Olympic hockey teams come February. Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was chosen to model the jersey along with Alexandra Kapustina from the women’s national team.
While the men’s is slightly more tolerable than the women’s, these are some of the more heinous designs we’ve seen on a hockey sweater. Designed by Nike, the jerseys come in red and white with eight stars along the shoulders to symbolize the eight Olympic gold medals won by the Russian hockey team. The design on the front is an attempt to honor the national crest. Nice concept….interesting execution.
Team USA’s jerseys, also designed by Nike, will be unveiled on Tuesday.
