After firing their head coach, Dallas Eakins, last week, a lot of people said that things could only go up for the Edmonton Oilers. A lot of people were wrong.
The Oil lost another game in highly depressing fashion on Tuesday night against the Arizona Coyotes, letting up a head-scratcher in the final seconds of overtime to surrender the extra point. It wasn’t just that the puck crossed the goal line with less than a second left to play, it was how it was scored. You’ve got Taylor Hall explicably falling over along the boards, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins looking COMPLETELY lost defensively and everybody else allowing Oliver Ekmann-Larsson glide right into the offensive zone and rip a slapper past Ben Scrivens.
Once again, Craig MacTavish was left dumbfounded.
