It was a very intense 68 minutes of hockey in D.C. on Saturday. Both goaltenders were flawless for three periods, pushing the game to overtime, and keeping every fan on their toes. In OT, Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh shot the puck over the glass and took a delay of game penalty, putting Washington’s killer power play to work. With the man advantage, Mike Green unloaded a slap shot that found it’s way into the net and set the Verizon Center ablaze. The shot actually deflected off the stick of Rangers forward Derek Stepan and into the net. Brayden Holtby made 24 saves for his first career playoff shutout.
This loss is a devastating blow to the Rangers who are now at a 0-2 deficit in the series.
