Former Boston College standout Kevin Hayes is having quite the impressive first season in New York this year, and this highlight from last night’s game against the Islanders might end up being one of the best from his rookie campaign.
Hayes took a breakout pass after sneaking behind the Islanders’ defense, then shrugged off the Isles’ Thomas Hickey in Marshawn Lynch-esque fashion before scoring on Jaroslav Halak. It was a beautiful individual effort from the 22-year old Hayes, who seems to be making it his mission to really earn the ‘power forward’ label in the NHL.
He may want to start practicing better goal faces, though.
