Johnny Boychuk fired a slapper past Braden Holtby for the game-winner in New York on Monday night, then fired a shot at Alexander Ovechkin with the ensuing celebration.
Late in the third period, Ovechkin managed to light the lamp and tie the game with a wrist shot that would eventually help the Caps send the game to overtime. To celebrate the big goal, Ovechkin dropped to his knees and banged his stick on the ice, and Boychuk would ultimately go the same route after his own big goal in the extra frame.
Was it just a coincidence or a deliberate mocking of Ovechkin’s celebration? Only Boychuk knows, but you can let us know what you think below.
