As a professional athlete, sometimes you need to come up with unorthodox ways to help your team win games – even if it means bending the rules a little bit.
Buffalo Sabres enforcer John Scott is not very good at scoring goals (two career tallies in 205 NHL games) but you can’t fault him for not trying. Scoreless in the first period of last night’s Panthers-Sabres game in Buffalo, Scott grabbed a loose puck after a whistle and literally threw it past Panthers goalie Tim Thomas and into the Florida net.
Unlike John Scott, however, NHL referees are good at their job. Scott’s antics resulted in a two minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
