Émile Poirier was selected 22nd overall by the Flames in the first round of last year’s NHL Draft, and highlights like the one he delivered last night show why he was seen as a first-round talent.
The 19-year old Gatineau Olympiques forward scored four goals against the Sherbrooke Phoenix in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action last night, including the spectacular tally you see in the video above.
Poirier shows off some nifty puck control by deking through the legs of a Phoenix defender before quickly restablishing his forehand and wristing one into the back of the net. The defeated reactions from the victimized defenseman and goaltender pretty much say it all.
