Somebody should go ahead and tell the fine folk over at General Mills that one of their special edition Olympics boxes of Cheerios probably should have never hit the shelves.
That box is one that prominently features Canadian-born hockey player Eric Staal on the back, despite the fact that he didn’t make Team Canada’s ice hockey roster for the upcoming Sochi games.
Staal, who currently plays for the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL and was a member of Canada’s 2010 gold medal-winning team, was considered by many to be a snub and Cheerios likely just assumed he was going to have a spot on the 2014 roster. Oops.
