For 13 years, Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin has been eating the same meal before every home game – and it’s a big one.
According to the Players Tribune, Ovechkin’s been getting the same meal for the Italian chain, Mamma Lucia’s. The meal consists of Chicken Parm, pasta, a ton of mushrooms and four different sauces.
oh my god @ScottSAllen got photos of that Mamma Lucia's meal Alex Ovechkin has before every home game. It comes with four sauces. https://t.co/jMu1k0x0Wl pic.twitter.com/HXQyV2UI1e

Per Caps teammate Brooks Orpik, Ovechkin has little shame about his eating habits.
“There’s no shame. It’ll be eleven in the morning, way before anyone is really thinking about eating lunch, and Ovi will walk into the dining area yelling, “Mama Luccia! Mama Luccia!” I don’t know. It’s weird, but it seems normal now.”
That’s a lot of carbs, but it’s hard to deny the potential impact of his ritualistic eating habits. Ovie is one of the most prolific goal scorers in NHL history and is a horse out on the ice. Without question, Mamma Lucia’s has helped him keep up.
Would I eat the massive dinner plate? Sure. But, unlike Ovechkin, instead of being amped up I’d immediately go into a food coma.
