Toward the end of the 2021 NFL season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Antonio Brown rather abruptly left the team, retiring in the middle of a game against the New York Jets in a bizarre scene. His departure left the Buccaneers with a hole in the lineup at wide receiver, and NFL legend Terrell Owens tried to fill it, but he claims Tom Brady ghosted him.
During a recent appearance on the Bubba Dub Show, Terrell Owens revealed that he actually reached out to Tom Brady about joining the Buccaneers for their playoff run once Brown left the team. However, Brady ignored him.
“Tom Brady ignored me,” Owens said according to Pro Football Talk. “The year that AB went crazy . . . they just needed somebody to fill some holes with AB leaving at the receiver position. I reached out to him through Randy and some other people, just to come in and play third down and red zone situations. This dude ignored me. It just shows you the lack of respect there, but then when they get in front of you they want to act like they respect you.”
It’s worth noting that at the time, Owens was 48 years old and hadn’t played a snap of football since a decade earlier when he was cut from the Seattle Seahawks in training camp.
