When Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce began dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, he didn’t even have to introduce her to his head coach, because Andy Reid already knew her and her family.
During a recent interview with Audacy’s 610 Sports Radio, Andy Reid revealed the he has known Taylor Swift and her family for quite a while, going back to his time as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, near where her and her family grew up.
“I actually knew her and her family before Trav did,” Reid said according to Entertainment Tonight. “They’re from Pennsylvania, and her dad was an Eagles fan — a football fan, really — I believe he played at Delaware, so he gets the game. He understands. And she’s got a great mom, and they’re very close that way.”
But Reid insists he had nothing to do with their relationship – but Kelce was stunned to learn that Reid and Swift knew each other.
“I had nothing to do with it, but I think she mentioned [it] to him when they met,” Reid revealed. “She goes, ‘I know your coach,’ and he kind of went, ‘What coach?’ And she goes, ‘Coach Reid and his wife,’ and Trav went, ‘Oh no, that’s not what I wanted to hear.’ But listen, it was all good. They’re good people, both of them. I’m happy that they’re happy. Really.”
