During the 2024 NFL season, Taylor Swift began attending Kansas City Chiefs games in support of her newfound boyfriend Travis Kelce. But even though Swift was there to watch Kelce play, it sounds like another player caught her eye as she began her football fandom.
During a recent appearance on EWTN’s “In Depth,” Kansas City Chiefs superstar kicker Harrison Butker recalled meeting Taylor Swift for the first time at a New Year’s party, and he revealed that not only was Swift delightful to talk to in person but she was actually amazed at how far and accurately Butker was able to kick the ball.
“Travis showed up and Taylor was there. I got to meet her and she was just so humble and so gracious,” Butker said during the interview. “I don’t think she grew up a football fan, so everything for her is so cool. And especially as a kicker, she thinks that it’s amazing that I can kick the ball so far through the uprights.”
Obviously, that wasn’t something that Butker was necessarily expecting, because he entered the conversation quite a bit starstruck by her.
“I was a little nervous to meet Taylor Swift,” Butker said. “I mean, it’s Taylor Swift. Maybe I am a Swiftie if I was nervous to meet her. But it was a great experience and I can’t say enough great things about her.”
It sounds like it was a pleasant first interaction.
