Spencer Rattler had a tumultuous college football career. After earning the starting job with the Oklahoma Sooners in his second season and playing quite well, Rattler was then benched in favor of Caleb Williams the following season and transferred to South Carolina to finish his career. And he thinks his whole journey will help him at the NFL level.
After he was selected in the fifth round by the New Orleans Saints in this weekend’s NFL Draft, Spencer Rattler acknowledged that he experienced “a little adversity” during his college career, but he thinks that’s only going to help him as he steps into the NFL.
“I think it helps me coming into this level, being able to experience a little adversity early on in my college career, I think that helps,” Rattler said according to Pro Football Talk. “As a quarterback at this level, you’re going to experience adversity if you want it or not. So I think having success, having adversity, that helps shape you as a player and person. I wouldn’t change a thing about college. I’m ready for the next step. I know I’m prepared.”
Rattler showed signs of greatness throughout his college career and was the highest-rated quarterback prospect in the country coming out of high school. We’ll have to see how he performs for the Saints.
