San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Brock Purdy might be an MVP candidate, but he surely isn’t compensated like one. That, coupled with the expensive standard of living in San Francisco made it impossible for him to afford Christmas gifts for his offensive linemen this year.

Brock Purdy was selected with the last overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and is still on his rookie contract despite emerging as an MVP candidate this season. As a result, he makes $870,000 a season. However, after taxes from living in San Francisco California, that becomes around $473,000 in take-home pay.

As a result, Purdy couldn’t afford to gift his offensive linemen with sets of new fitted golf clubs. So San Francisco 49ers superstar running back Christian McCaffrey decided to help him out and give the offensive linemen the Christmas gifts in his place.

And it sure sounds like Purdy is grateful.

“Financially, I wouldn’t be able to cover that right now,” Purdy joked with reporters. “Shout-out to him. Everyone loved it. So, thank you, Christian.”

Purdy will undoubtedly be getting a raise in the near future if he keeps performing this way. But for now, he lives with a roommate and drives a used car, all while putting up some of the best numbers in the league.
