The New Orleans Saints have yet to find their next head coach after partying ways with Dennis Allen this offseason, but it sounds like they are moving former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy through the interview process.
After having initial conversations with Mike McCarthy earlier this month about their head coaching vacancy, NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that the team is officially moving forward with bringing McCarthy in for an in-person interview.
“Former Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy is expected to interview in New Orleans next week,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Of course, McCarthy is far from the only coach that New Orleans is speaking to about the opening as the team has cast a rather wide net in their coaching search.
Schefter reports that the team is also set to interview Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver as well as Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
These interviews are in addition to the second interviews that the team is scheduling with Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
It’s not clear who the Saints will ultimately choose as their next head coach, but McCarthy is certainly in the mix.
