Veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill is still a free agent without a team after parting ways with the Tennessee Titans at the end of last season. And it sounds like it’s going to stay that way unless he gets the perfect opportunity.
According to a report from NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Ryan Tannehill is being “very selective” about any potential return to the NFL.
“Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, whose name came up after Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a knee injury in Week 1 and after Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered his latest concussion six nights later, is being “very selective,” we’re told, regarding his next destination,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk on Monday.
Tannehill entered the league back in 2012 when he was selected with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.
After seven seasons with the Dolphins, Tannehill joined the Tennessee Titans, where he revitalized his career, winning the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award in addition to Pro Bowl honors.
Last season, Tannehill was benched in favor of rookie quarterback Will Levis, and he did not re-sign with the team after the conclusion of the season.
Tannehill is 36 years old and clearly still thinks he could play, but he’s not going to rush into anything.
We’ll have to see whether or not the right situation arises.
