On Wednesday afternoon, the Denver Broncos made a pretty shocking decision regarding starting quarterback Russell Wilson as the team appears set to move on from him as the starter, benching him for the final two days to preserve roster flexibility, likely ending his career with the Broncos.

It’s a pretty horrible situation for Russell Wilson all around as he is getting benched and replaced by backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham for the final two games and will likely be cut from the team to avoid further salary cap penalties from his massive contract. But despite it all, it sounds like Wilson is trying to stay optimistic and is leaning on his faith.

Following the news on Wednesday, Wilson made a short but clear post on social media expressing his hope for the unfortunate situation.

“God’s got me. Looking forward to what’s next,” Wilson wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

If the Broncos do decide to cut Wilson sooner than later – as is expected – Wilson will become a free agent and will be able to sign with another team, perhaps stepping into a better situation than he had with the Denver Broncos.

We’ll have to see what happens.
