With their Week 12 win in Atlanta, the Cleveland Browns are now 7-4 and right in the middle of an awesome AFC playoff race. Leading the contending Browns is head coach Mike Pettine, the franchise’s fifth permanent coach since their last playoff appearance and seventh since their last playoff win. Although the quick turnaround has been surprising, Pettine is doing something that was apparently impossible after his January hire…at least if you ask the masses that overreacted to his leap from the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator position to a historically unsuccessful position.
Pettine was officially hired on January 23rd and based upon fan reactions, he should not have even bothered fielding a team for the 2014 season but instead have forfeited every game and just go back to Buffalo. Now the team is 1/2 game out first place in the AFC North and could be headed toward their first playoff win since ‘Nam.
