The Pittsburgh Steelers did not exactly have strong play at the quarterback position throughout the 2023 season. As a result, it sounds like the team is interested in bringing in one of the top available veteran free agents to help shore up the position.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to meet with Russell Wilson next week as they consider potentially signing the veteran quarterback following his departure from the Denver Broncos.

“The Steelers are interested in signing Russell Wilson and are tentatively planning to meet with the former Denver Broncos quarterback before the official start of free agency next week, sources have told the Post-Gazette,” Dulac wrote on Thursday.

“Wilson, 35, has an interest in joining the Steelers, but he is already talking with at least one other team after the Broncos gave him permission to seek employment elsewhere before they release him.”

Obviously, this is some pretty massive news regarding one of the most high-profile free agent targets on the market, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

Steelers starter Kenny Pickett did not quite meet expectations last season. We’ll see if the Steelers decide to bring in Wilson as a result.
