Earlier this week, the Philadelphia Eagles made one of the most high-profile free-agent signings of the entire offseason when they worked out a deal to bring in former New York Giants superstar running back Saquon Barkley. But it sounds like the NFL has reason to believe that they might not have followed all of the league’s rules in their recruitment of the star tailback.
According to a report from Dan Graziano of ESPN, the NFL is investigating potential tampering violations from the Philadelphia Eagles relating to their singing of Saquon Barkley this offseason.
“Per a league source, the NFL is looking into potential tampering by the Eagles and the Falcons related to the free-agent signings of Saquon Barkley and Kirk Cousins,” Graziano said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is some pretty significant news as it relates to perhaps the most high-profile free agent signing of the offseason so far, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

If the Eagles are found to have been guilty of tampering, there’s a chance that the team could get hit with a fine or potentially even forfeit draft picks.
