Ever since the Kansas City Chiefs traded superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the team has very much been lacking playmakers at the wide receiver position, meaning that star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has lacked downfield weapons on the outside. But the Chiefs clearly tried to remedy that on Thursday night.

During the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who just clocked the fastest 40-yard dash in the history of the NFL Scouting Combine last month. And undoubtedly, Patrick Mahomes was happy with the selection.

“The #Chiefs trade up and take the fastest player in Combine history: #Texas WR Xavier Worthy goes to KC at No. 28. No wonder Patrick Mahomes is happy,” Ian Rapoport for the NFL Network said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is a pretty significant move from the Chiefs that addresses a position of need for the Chiefs and give Mahomes another weapon, and the move led to a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll have to see how Worthy performs with the Chiefs this season.
