This week, Houston Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins was given a contract extension that will keep him with the team for the foreseeable future. The second contract establishes Collins as a legitimate star in the NFL, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to stop trying to prove himself.
During a press conference on Thursday following news of the new contract, Nico Collins made it clear that even though he has earned his coveted second contract in the NFL, he is now even more motivated and thinks there’s even more to prove.
“This is unexplainable,” Collins said according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC. “This is something I’ve been wishing for since I was a little kid. I’ve been playing football since I was five or six years old. The dream is to make it to the league and get that second contract. God has blessed me with the opportunity. And, now, I got it. I feel like, now, it’s motivation. I feel like there’s more to be proved.”
Collins had a breakout season last year playing with star quarterback C.J. Stroud. With this new contract, the expectation is that the two form an elite combination for years to come.
